My name is Edwin Castro
I am the owner and founder of Dragons Path Academy.
Born and raised in the South Bronx.
I have been studying and training in martial arts and Boxing for over 40 years, and instructing since 1995. I hold Black Belts in ITF Tae Kwon Do, WTF Tae Kwon Do, Shotokan, and Hapkido.
Our Programs consists of Tae Kwon Do/Hapkido and Boxing Fundamentals.

One of the important aspects of our TKD program is our youth empowerment program. They learn to overcome obstacles throughout their lives.
Through the development of Spirit, Mind and Body they learn to build courage, and confidence, build knowledge, they learn that knowledge is the leverage to obtaining anything they want in life, they learn to strengthen their bodies through our energetic martial arts drills and excercises.
When they strengthen and combine all three it makes them capable of excelling even further than their own natural abilities.
They learn to diffuse situations, and learn ways to walk away without
getting hurt or hurting anyone.
They learn to pause, think, then act therefore it creates a better
outcome of consequence.
And most of all the they learn to always be aware of their surroundings by using their most important senses.
These are the qualities taught at the Tae Kwon Do Program. All of these lessons gear them to perform better in all their classes, their regent exams, and even more at home.

Unlike other workout alternatives available to adults, Dragons Path Taekwondo & Hapkido Academy offers a workout that includes all primary aspects of physical conditioning - Strength Development, Cardiopulmonary Conditioning and Flexibility Training.

Leadership Training

Consistent with the unique history and practice of the martial arts, our core curriculum includes high-energy drills designed to build and hone self-control and self-discipline. Through positive coaching we instill confidence and develop skills in relationship building, personal development, manners and protocol as well as building your personal knowledge in maintaining your personal health and fitness.

Secrets of Consistency

Staying with your workout can be a real challenge in the typical health club, gym or personal training exercise programs. The group dynamics, professional coaching for each training session, belt ranking and award system can truly make the difference when it comes to sticking with your training in our dojang. Not to mention, our classes are held six days and evenings each week. Super clean and matted surfaces are disinfected daily for your comfort and health. A positive and encouraging environment is at the heart of our Martial Art School.

Self Defense

Dragons Path Taekwondo & Hapkido Academy offer a street-smart mixed martial arts system that incorporates the best of taekwondo, hapkido , boxing, ground defense. Each of these martial arts are blended in a comprehensive self-defense system designed to instill a positive mindset and confidence in virtually any self-defense situation.

Stress Relief

Our workouts burn calories, relieve tension and stress, promotes a sense of calm confidence and builds energy. Adults often remark that the stress relief component of our training keeps them coming back for more. As adults, we need to reduce our stress factor daily. Our adult students look forward to "leaving their troubles in their shoes" and enjoying a high-energy, positively focused workout led each day by Sahbunim.
